The Boston School of Boabom teaches Seamm-Jasani, Boabom and Yaanbao, three no-contact kinds of martial arts that include elements of meditation, breathing, mindfulness and self defense. These ancient Tibetan techniques help our students in diffusing anxiety and stress while feeling more centered in their day to day life. Our classes in and around Massachusetts are offered in one-on-one and group environments for children and adults, and are led by our gentle, supportive trainers.
While classified as one of the martial arts, Boabom and its subsets are non-competitive and don’t involve contact, consequently they teach people how to employ self defense strategies without showing any aggressiveness to other participants. Students advance through learning new moves weekly which expand on the prior sessions. Our martial arts training course helps you to enhance your breathing, balance, agility, speed, reflexes and self-control give you greater peace of mind and develop your self-confidence as you navigate life’s challenges. Why don’t you check out our introductory and free adult Boabom classes every Wednesday and Saturday?
Meditation is a practice originating in ancient India that has more purpose than ever in our stressful modern day world. Combining breath control and mindfulness practices, meditation is one of the best ways to lower stress and anxiety. A wide range of research projects have demonstrated that meditation can lower high blood pressure, fend off depression and improve sleep. Youngsters as well as adults can be helped by practicing regular meditation.
You’re able to learn to meditate at the Boston School of Boabom. Our still and seated meditations in the Massachusetts area integrate breathing, sound, imagination and visualization to help in slowing down racing thoughts and our often critical inner voice. Our excellent tutors lead you through each phase of a mindfulness meditation session, including gradually easing you out of it afterwards. Our enrollees report feelings of being refreshed, more centered, and better able to take on the rest of the day following a meditation class. The meditation approach implemented by Boabom is referred to as “the recycling of the mind” and among other things features stretching moves to help loosen the body and break up muscular tension.
Online martial arts classes are an effective way to fight anxiety and get exercise through the coronavirus crisis, or at times when your lifestyle requires the convenience of taking lessons in your own home. Taking martial arts lessons on the web also helps you feel a connection with others having the same interests, although you may not be standing beside them physically. If you do not have direct access to a martial arts class which teaches a discipline online, YouTube is an awesome resource to discover free training. It would also be a good idea to talk to a local martial arts school to find out if they are streaming classes or offering other online solutions.
To make our meditation sessions more accessible to the general public and to help continue providing our services during the coronavirus outbreak, the Boston School of Boabom has begun providing online breathing and meditation sessions. Lessons are conducted online through Zoom every Saturday morning at 11 AM. The online guided meditation last for one hour and is taught by Yemado, our director. You should expect the exact same breathing and stretching techniques as in our in-person meditation sessions. This is a great way to help reduce any anxiety and stress that you might be going through these worrying times. Interested participants are able to enroll online. Donations are optional, but not necessary to attend.
As Boabom is frequently practiced as an alternative to Tai Chi, one may wonder what is the difference? Both use breathing techniques and physical moves to build strength, relieve stress, and help students to feel more connected to themselves.
The main distinction is that Boabom is still considered to be a kind of martial art even though it’s a non-competitive medium, while Tai Chi is primarily a sort of exercise, albeit one which depends on quieting your thoughts and using breathing and relaxation techniques. Boabom’s roots are in ancient Tibet while Tai Chi originated in China.
Boabom can also incorporate the use of accessories such as short staffs to perform a few of the routines, and therefore giving the discipline a little more of a self-defense type feel. Boabom also has subsets which are known as Seamm-Jasani (also called gentle Boabom) and osseous Boabom (traditional Boabom), while there’s just one type of Tai Chi.
Both yoga and Boabom are good at boosting agility and balance in addition to eliminating anxiety and stress, however do they really compare? The real difference is that yoga is not a discipline of martial arts like Boabom certainly is. Boabom may be taught in lessons as a non-competitive, no-contact martial art, however a few of the movements can still be categorized under self defense. Boabom also uses short staffs and other implements which remind us of its beginnings in the martial arts of the past.
Yoga does not come under the umbrella term of self defense, although it does require comparable breathing techniques and doing a number of movements to release stress and warm up the muscles. There are also many forms of yoga that vary from gentle to more ambitious workouts and stretches, and the ever popular hot yoga. Your own personal preferences will determine whether Boabom or yoga is better for you.
Adult martial arts classes are a powerful team building strategy for your workforce which can also help them to fight stress, practice mindfulness and feel more efficient in the workplace. Your work team can attend a martial arts class in person, or participate in one by using Zoom. You can also have a martial arts teacher come to your place of work and conduct classes instead of taking a yoga, kickboxing or tai chi session.
There are various disciplines of martial arts to contemplate for your staff. Some call for a lot more contact, like karate and jiu jitsu, while Boabom is a non-competitive, no contact type of martial arts. Your workforce may also want to try a tai chi or yoga session as yet another way to ease the stresses or work.
Help your personnel manage stress and increase productivity by allowing them to get involved in business meditation lessons. You can join a meditation class via Zoom online or in person at the studio, or have a meditation teacher pay a visit to your place of work. Learning meditation can positively affect a person’s home life, not just hours spent at work.
