Boabom students grow in confidence by learning new movements each week that build on the earlier classes. Our martial arts technique helps strengthen your breathing, balance, agility, reflexes, speed and self-control gain peace of mind and increase your self-confidence as you face life’s challenges. Why don’t you make the most of our introductory and free adult martial arts classes every Wednesday and Saturday?
Meditation is a practice originating in ancient India that has more purpose than ever in our stressful and demanding modern world. Integrating mindfulness and breath control techniques, meditation is one of the best ways to lessen anxiety and stress. Several research projects have established that meditation can improve sleep and lower high blood pressure and depressive disorders. Children as well as adults can be helped by employing meditation.
You’re able to learn to meditate at the Boston School of Boabom. Our seated and still meditations in West Roxbury mix sound, imagination, visualization and breathing to help in slowing down our often critical inner voice and our racing thoughts. Our fully trained tutors lead you through each phase of a guided mindfulness meditation, as well as slowly drawing you out of it afterwards. Our meditation students report feeling refreshed, more centered, and better able to take on the rest of their day after a meditation class. The meditation approach adopted by Boabom is known as “the recycling of the mind” and features stretching movements to help loosen the body and ease tension in the muscles.
Taking martial arts classes on the web is an excellent way to tackle anxiety and get some exercise throughout the coronavirus pandemic, or at times when your way of life requires the convenience of taking lessons from the comfort of your home. Taking martial arts classes online also helps you feel connected to other folks having the same interests, although you will not be standing next to them physically. If you don’t have access to a martial arts class that gives instruction in one of the disciplines on the internet, YouTube is a brilliant resource for discovering free lessons. You could also talk to a local martial arts school to find out if they are holding live streaming classes or providing other online solutions.
To help with providing our services through the coronavirus outbreak and to make our meditation classes more convenient for the general public, we at the Boston School of Boabom have begun providing online breathing and meditation sessions. Seeing as Boabom is often learned as an alternative to Tai Chi, you may wonder what is the difference? Both disciplines use deep breathing and bodily poses to build strength, ease tension, and help practitioners to feel more at one with themselves.
The principal distinction is that Boabom is still considered to be a type of martial art in spite of the fact that it is largely non-competitive, while Tai Chi is primarily a kind of physical exercise, albeit one which relies on quieting the mind and employing breathing techniques. Tai Chi originated in China, while Boabom developed in ancient Tibet.
Boabom also features the use of accessories like short staffs for doing a few of the moves, and therefore giving the discipline more of a self defense feel. Boabom has also got subsets such as Seamm-Jasani (also called gentle Boabom) and osseous Boabom (traditional Boabom), while there is only one type of Tai Chi.
Both yoga and Boabom are great at enhancing agility and balance in addition to lowering anxiety and stress, but how do they really compare? The main difference is that yoga isn’t a branch of martial arts while Boabom certainly is. Boabom can be taught in sessions as a no-contact, non-competitive form of martial arts, but some of the movements are still categorized under self defense. Boabom also uses short staffs and other accessories that amplify its origins in ancient martial arts.
Yoga is not a kind of self defense, although it does require comparable breathing exercises and doing a variety of moves to release stress and limber the muscles. Yoga also comes in many forms that range from simple to more ambitious stretches and routines, as well as the widely popular hot yoga. Your own personal preferences will determine whether Boabom or yoga is best for you.
Martial arts classes are an effective team building strategy for your personnel which can also help them tackle stress, feel more effective in the workplace and practice mindfulness. Your workers can physically attend a martial arts class, or take part in one through the use of Zoom. You can also hire a martial arts teacher to visit your place of work and supervise a class instead of coordinating a tai chi, kickboxing or yoga session.
There are numerous categories of martial arts that you can consider for your staff. Some involve more contact, like karate and Brazilian jiu jitsu, while Boabom is a non-competitive, no contact form of martial arts. Your personnel might also want to have a go at a yoga or tai chi session as an additional way to ease workplace anxiety.
Improve productivity and help your workforce deal with stress by allowing them to participate in meditation sessions for businesses. You can join a meditation session via Zoom online or physically at the studio, or you can have a meditation coach visit your place of work. Learning meditation can have positive effects on a staff member’s home life, along with hours spent on the job.
“I really liked taking classes here. The art is great exercise and I like practicing it. I haven’t been back in a while because I can’t afford it, but I still practice some moves at home. One of my concerns is that there isn’t always enough stretching, although I understand there are limitations due to the length of classes. I feel like this is more important for people that don’t do yoga, or other stretches outside of the art.
This is the only location in the US. I really believe them that it is an ancient art, because if you’ve seen students spar in the highest levels, you can easily see how different it is from other martial art forms. One of the things that distinguishes Boabom, is they practice non-contact fighting because you will be taught how to hurt people if you ever need to. It is better this way for the health of people involved, but also because you really know what to do if you ever need to. In a lot of other schools, people get hurt learning to fight, but that doesn’t happen in Boabom.
I liked having the chance to have deep conversations with people before and after classes. I feel that most students are friendly and more spiritually advanced than the average person. I’d like to start going again some day. I learned a lot of valuable life skills from being a part of Boston Boabom.” Andrew
