A suburb city of Middlesex, County Newton has a population of 85,146. Originally called Newe Towne this city was renamed as Cambridge Village and then named Newton. It’s also called the Garden City. A series of mills built here ushered in the industrialization of Newton. Chocolate, snuff, paper, glue, and many other products were made here. It was home to the maker of Stanley Steamer the Stanley Motor Carriage Company. This city was one of the earliest commuter suburbs of the USA. This led to Boston wealthy businessmen building elegant homes on existing farmlands which were mostly built on Commonwealth Street and West Newton Hill. Though development and industrialization crept here the farming activities mostly gardening didn’t stop in some areas like Oakland. But later development bug bit it too making Newton a densely-settled city. New Philomena Orchestra Massachusetts and Newton Symphony Orchestra are two symphony orchestras that are housed here.
