About Our Martial Arts Program in Downtown Boston

We at the Boston School of Boabom teach Yaanbao, Seamm-Jasani and Boabom, three no-contact types of martial arts that include aspects of breathing, mindfulness, meditation and self defense. With their origins in historic Tibet these practices help our trainees in diffusing stress and anxiety whilst feeling far more centered in their daily life. Our Downtown Boston area classes are offered in private one-to-one and group environments for both children and adults, conducted by our caring, gentle instructors.

Even though regarded as a martial art, Boabom and its subdivisions don’t involve contact and are non-competitive, so they teach people how to employ defense strategies without showing any aggressiveness to fellow trainees. Students advance by learning different movements each week that expand on the previous lessons. This martial arts package helps improve your self-control, speed, agility, reflexes, breathing and balance give you greater peace of mind and develop your self-confidence as you face life’s challenges. You can check out our free introductory adult martial arts classes every Wednesday and Saturday.

Meditation Classes At Our Downtown Boston Area School

Meditation is a practice originating in ancient India which has purpose more than ever in our demanding and stressful modern day world. Integrating breath control and mindfulness techniques, meditation is an excellent way to lessen anxiety and stress. Several studies have shown that meditation can improve sleep and reduce high blood pressure and depression. Kids along with adults may be helped by practicing regular meditation.

You’re able to learn to practice meditation at the Boston School of Boabom. Our Downtown Boston area seated and still meditations combine visualization, breathing, imagination and sound to help in slowing down racing thoughts and our often critical inner voice. Our instructors lead you through each phase of a guided mindfulness meditation, including gradually easing you out of it. Our many meditation trainees report feeling more centered, refreshed, and better able to take on the remainder of their day following a meditation class. The meditation approach implemented by Boabom is referred to as “the recycling of the mind” and includes stretching poses to help loosen the body and ease tension in the muscles.

Martial Arts Classes On the Web

Online martial arts classes are an excellent means by which to combat anxiety and get some exercise through the coronavirus crisis, or when your lifestyle necessitates the convenience of taking classes in your own home. Taking martial arts sessions on the web also helps you feel connected to others having the same interests, although you’re not standing beside them physically. If you haven’t got access to a martial arts class which teaches a discipline online, YouTube is an awesome resource to locate free classes. You can also check with a local martial arts school to find out if they’re streaming classes or offering online techniques.

Online Meditation and Breathing Classes

To make our meditation lessons more convenient for the public and to help continue providing our services during the coronavirus pandemic, the Boston School of Boabom has started providing online meditation and breathing classes. Instruction is conducted on the web by using Zoom on Saturday mornings at 11 AM. The online guided meditation last for one hour and is led by our director Yemado. You can anticipate the same stretching and breathing exercises as you do in our usual in-person meditation sessions. You will discover that this is an outstanding way to help reduce any anxiety and stress that you may be dealing with throughout these unsettling days. Students can join online. Donations are optional, but not mandatory to attend.

Tai Chi and Boabom – What’s the Difference?

Seeing as Boabom is frequently learned as an alternative to Tai Chi, one might wonder precisely what differences there are. Both disciplines use breathing and bodily movements to reduce stress, build strength, and help people to feel more at one with themselves.

The main distinction is that Boabom is still seen as a form of martial art although it’s largely non-competitive, while Tai Chi is mainly a sort of physical exercise, even though one which relies on quieting your thoughts and using special breathing techniques. Tai Chi began in China, while Boabom has its roots in ancient Tibet.

Boabom can also incorporate the use of implements such as short staffs to accomplish a few of the movements, and therefore giving the practice a bit more of a feeling of self-defense. Boabom has also got some subclasses which are known as osseous Boabom (traditional Boabom) and Seamm-Jasani (also called gentle Boabom), while there’s just one kind of Tai Chi.

Boabom Classes vs Yoga Classes – What is the Comparison?

Both yoga and Boabom work well at boosting balance and agility in addition to reducing stress and anxiety, but how do they really compare? The primary difference is that yoga isn’t a martial arts discipline like Boabom is. Boabom can be learned in sessions as a no-contact, non-competitive martial art, but a number of the movements can still be classified as self defense. Boabom can also use accessories such as short staffs that amplify its roots in ancient martial arts.

Yoga is not a sort of self defense, although it does involve similar breathing techniques and performing a number of moves to release stress and warm up the muscles. Yoga also comes in many styles that vary from simple to more ambitious stretches and workouts, and the popular hot yoga. Whether Boabom or yoga is right for you depends upon your own individual preferences.

Team Building Martial Arts Classes

Martial arts classes are a valuable team building strategy for your employees which can also help them to overcome stress, feel more effective in the workplace and promote mindfulness. It is possible for your workers to attend a martial arts class in person, or get involved in one through the use of Zoom. It is also possible to have a martial arts teacher visit your workplace and supervise classes instead of coordinating a kickboxing, yoga or tai chi class.

There are various disciplines of martial arts to contemplate for your staff. Karate and other Japanese martial arts as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu involve a lot more contact, while Boabom is a non-competitive, no contact kind of martial arts. Your workforce may also want to consider a tai chi or yoga class as another way to reduce on-the-job stress.

Business Meditation Lessons

Boost productivity and help your workforce handle stress by allowing them to participate in meditation sessions for businesses. They can attend a meditation class via Zoom online or in person at the studio, or have a meditation instructor come to your place of business. Learning meditation techniques can have positive effects on an employee’s home life, as well as time spent on the job.
